This morning over 100 runners ran in the 2nd Annual Reindeer Run 5K. Lisa dreamed of bringing a race to downtown Berlin and having great local support. This year her dream came true a day before her birthday. The Atlantic Hotel was a great host(Thank you Phil, Michelle, Leza, and John). A big nod to CrossFit Ocean City for their continued support of local events. It’s great fun to watch our local athlete’s come together on a beautiful Sunday for some good ole fashioned fun and competition. Chris and Charlie from OC Tri Running did a fantastic job timing the event. Thank you to Officer Bunting and Chief Downing of the Berlin Police Department. Thanks to The town of Berlin for sharing their beautifully decorated streets, this made for a nice race course to run. And finally, to all of the sponsors and volunteers that made this race a great time! Thank You and Merry Christmas:)

Thursday ONE WORKOUT! An 8am partner affair. If you don’t have a partner we will find you one. Be there (on time!)

It was great seeing everyone at the Seaside 5K/10 Miler. AMAZING weather and great group of runners. Not sure the total yet, but several hundred runners. Way to support Ocean City. This event has become an OC tradition, and this race was OCTriRunning’s (Chris Kleibe) first time at the healm. Super job! Lots of personal bests and age group wins out there. we will have pix up later. Nice work again!

September is flying by! We have allot going on right now and will try to catch everyone up.

We have Saturdays at 10:30 for an athletes workout. People who do not currently participate in organized sports are welcome to attend, but the workouts at this time are directed at High school athletes and their specific demands. Very few modifications are made and intensity and duration are at a level commensurate with the athletes. They are killing it on Saturdays and are a great and supportive group.
During the week we offer sessions to kids at every level, and with everyone in mind. We still get a ton of organized sport participants, but these work outs are more scalable and are great for new to fitness as well as competitive athletes.

Seaside 10 Miler and 5K are coming up. You can register HERE. This event is a great run and allot of fun. Boardwalk, costumes and always great weather!

New food challenge starting up Saturday 9-19. if you are looking at dialing in your nutrition, this program is for you. we will take you step by step through a Zone based eating plan over 6 weeks. You will learn now to eat for performance and body composition. The process teaches you how to get on track with food, and stay there for the rest of your life.

The Reindeer Run 5K is also set. HERE is early registration. This event was a TON of fun last year, and will even be better. We will start and end at Atlantic Hotel in Historic Berlin and Holiday activities abound! Berlin was cool enough to let us run down Main St. last year and the course was approved for this years event as well.

We have altered our payment structure and schedule in September. Changes will always lead to some upheaval, and we appreciate those who bared with these changes. We currently have NO CONTRACTS, and do not intend to bring any in for 2009-2010. For better, or worse we founded Live Long Fitness on a basic premise that if you no longer want to train with us, you are free to leave at any time. from a Business 101 perspective this may not be the smartest thing we have ever done, but Lisa and I have never been happy with contractually obligating people to train with us, so we will not do it. This is by no means a marketing ploy, or an issue having to do with what anyone in the marketplace does, or doesn’t do. It is a simple thing that we are standing by.

In October we will be adding some earlier afternoon times to accomodate teachers and student’s who have requested them. We will let you know when we cemnt these times down.

I just got these in my hot little hands. Here ya go!

Thank you everyone who turned out today. we had 145 runners cross the line at the 5K and over 30 kids in the “Kiddie k”. The rain held off, volunteers showed up and it was a great event. A few quick notes;

Full results will be up here by Monday and also on www.octrirunning.com

Photos will be posted when available, as will age group winners.

A quick note on timing. We use a professional timing company with years of experience. A system of redundancy is in place. We have three separate means to verify placings. The clicker at the finish line, a timer hand checking at the line and finally the “pin” method, where all race numbers are collected at the finish line and matched to the other two results. There are occasions where one time may not mesh with another, but the back ups catch these instances.

Everyone did a fantastic job. The sponsors were awesome and the support was amazing. Thank  you everyone.

An event like the “Expect a Miracle 5K” is a wonderful thing. People from all parts of the community coming together to support a great cause. So many people play a part in making this event happen and we will get around to thanking them all. I want to take a moment to talk about Lisa. The list of what she has done to get ready for this run is enormous, but I will list a few;
go in front of City Council and get permission
meet with local police to approve the course
meet with permiting
get shirts printed
organize volunteers
stuff race bags
race registrations online, in person and via mail
get sponsor information
find a 3.1 mile course and 1 mile course
get timing gear, cones, marking paint, mile markers,taffy, safety pins,bags on and on…

it is on and on. I do what I can, and others offer tremendous support but I can tell you this with total certainty…this even would not happen if not for Lisa Long. If you see her running around on race day tell, give her a quick shout. This is something she does because it is a great event and that is the type of person she is, but I think we can still recognize all her hard work. Thanks Lis!

The 2nd Annual Expect a Miracle 5K and 1 Mile Events will be this Saturday (8/29) At Stephen Decatur Park. Registration is available HERE or at Live Long Fitness. We understand that this can be a busy time of year, but it is ONE MORNING OF ONE DAY TO DO SOMETHING AS A COMMUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITY. Some obligations are unavoidable, we realize that, but many very busy people are donating their time, money, and passion to this event. This is a cause that is very dear to us at Live Long Fitness and we want to see a great turnout.

Saturday August, 29th is the 2nd Annual Expect a Miracle 5K Run to benefit the Autistic Children’s Support Group of Worcester County.
Not registerd…Click HERE

Congratulations Lisa. Lisa placed 3rd in her age group on Saturday’s 10K in Dewey Beach. 50:09 was the time. Below her goal finish, but with her fastest mile 7:27 and her slowest mile 8:20 it was still a good showing. Her predicted Marathon off of this would be 3:52 which is NOT her goal time for Baltimore. Lucky she has plenty of time to get faster.

We have some people going into most categories of  THISevent. we have some partial relay teams that need another runner, biker, or swimmer. If you would like any more information on training, sponsoring or volunteering david@bodybylisa.com
